When this route can be ridden

20 June – 10 September. The gravel roads this route is built on open late: Grimsdalsvegen around 5 June, Haverdalsvegen 15 June, the Peer Gyntvegen early June, and the Jotunheimvegen only once Bygdin (11 June) and Haugseter (19 June) are through. The mountain lodges follow the same clock – Haugseter 19 June, Dalseter 21 June, Haverdalseter at midsummer – and at the other end Sognefjellshytta closes 6 September, Krossbu and Turtagrø in mid-September.

Those are the dates we go on. A road can open a week late after a hard winter, or a lodge can take its own decision – we confirm the whole chain with our partners before we confirm your trip. Outside this window the trip builder will not let you pick a start date for this route; our other routes run longer.

Included

You book your own nights

Accommodation is not included and cannot be booked through us. We suggest the route and the daily stages; where you sleep along the way is yours to arrange – hotel, guesthouse, cabin, campsite or your own tent. We are not an accommodation agent and we take no bookings, no payments and no responsibility for the places you choose.

Our tip: in high summer the well-known places fill up weeks ahead, so book your beds as soon as your dates are fixed. In May and September there is far more space along the route, and it is usually cheaper too.

Fly in. Leave the asphalt behind.
